Surge-Trap® Modular SPD
Surge-Trap® Surge Protective Device is a no-fuse surge suppressor. The Surge-Trap is a UL 1449 Third Edition compliant surge protective device with a modular thermally protected transient voltage surge suppressor. It is DIN-rail mountable featuring a fail-safe self-protected design, visual indicator and a small foot print. A remote indicator option provides status to critical control circuit. The Surge-Trap provides an interrupting rating and a Thermally Protected MOV without additional protection devices.
Surge Rated Fuses - VSP
Ferraz Shawmut surge suppression fuses are specially designed to address the protection of TVSS systems. The surge suppression fuses have been specially designed to withstand 8x20 MicroSec surge pulses without opening, allowing the TVSS system to react to the surge. All surge suppression fuses have a 8x20 MicroSec surge rating, not a continuous current rating. Under AC short circuit conditions these surge suppression fuses are very current limiting.
Surge Trap-Din Rail TVSS
Din Rail TVSS (Thermally Protected) - The Surge-Trap allows direct connection with the DIN-rail mount option. Featuring individual mode visual and remote indicators, providing status to critical control circuit. The Surge-Trap provides an Interrupting Rating and a Thermally Protected MOV without additional protection devices.
Surge-Trap Pluggable SPD
The Surge-Trap® Pluggable SPD provides advanced overvoltage protection by utilizing Ferraz Shawmut’s patented TPMOV design, which does not require fuses, a fuse holder or additional wiring in meeting the UL 1449 Third Edition standards thus providing substantial cost savings and reduced installation times. The Surge-Trap Pluggable SPD base is designed to be mounted on 35mm DIN-rail while plugs are easily replaceable upon failure without touching the base or the hassle of rewiring. It also features a visual indicator, easy installation, fail-safe design, mechanical coding and remote monitoring.

Surge-Trap® SPD Type 1 STT4X Series
The Surge-Trap® Type 1 STT4X Series meets requirements for UL1449 Third Edition. It provides a two-year warranty and offers an economical replacement for the former surge arrestor category. The STT4X features TPMOV® technology inside making it a no-fuse surge suppressor that doesn't require the use of additional overcurrent protection. It can be installed upstream or downstream of the main disconnect.
Surge-Trap® SPD Type 1 XP Series
The Surge-Trap® Type 1 XP Series offers advanced performance over other products. The XP meets requirements for UL1449 Third Edition and has been designed to be as compact as possible while offering advanced protection. The XP features TPMOV® technology inside making it the safest product available. Installation can be done on the line or load side of a panel. The XP is the perfect fit from service entrance all the way down to an important machine specific control panel.
